Mr. Russell Thompson, Sr., age 85, of Wallace, NC Answered the Master's Call on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, Wilmington, NC. He is survived by his wife, Lena Mae Thompson of Wallace; one son, Robert Thompson, Jr. of Mebane; Desiree' Thompson of Rose Hill; mother-in-law, Betty Lee Boney of Wallace; one grandchild, Jaasir R. Thompson of Rose Hill; two brothers-in-law, Franklin Boney of Wallace and Lewis Boney of Willard; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Martin (Frances) of Santa Marita, CA and Gloria Boney Davis (Larry) of Durham; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Newkirk Chapel Missionary Baptist Church 2990 Willard Rd, Wallace, NC 28466. Rev. William Smith, officiating. Interment will follow in the African American Community Cemetery, Willard, NC. Viewing for relatives and friends will be 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 472 Wells Town Road, Rose Hill, NC.
