Mr. Ricky Morel Kea, age 61, of Temple Hills, MD died Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
Funeral service will be held at Rose Hill Funeral Home Chapel, 472 Wells Town Road in Rose Hill on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, one hour prior to the service.
Ricky Morel Kea was born on April 23, 1961 to loving parents James Henry Kea and Nancy Beamon Kea in Duplin County, NC.
A Jokester with a Heart of Gold, Ricky was the type to poke fun and then give you the shirt off his back. Being the youngest of the family, he absorbed the traits of his dear brothers and sisters. These traits helped him became the loving and kind man we all knew and will forever love.
Ricky graduated from Wallace Rose Hill High School in 1979. He then packed up and moved north to attend the University of the District of Columbia. After graduation from UDC in 1985, Ricky worked a few jobs before becoming the Grocery Manager and Shop Steward at Giant grocery store. He was very passionate about his work, and always supported his team.
Ricky’s faith was a driving force in his life. He became a member of Contee AME Zion Church in 2011, where he worshiped.
During Ricky’s journey through life he also developed a passion for the sport of basketball. This not only changed his life but shaped it to have the strong morals and values that he followed until the end.
Once Ricky began to create his own family, this pushed his determination even further to become a leader, a protector, a provider, and most importantly, a father.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents James and Nancy Kea, his brother James “Dan” Kea, and his sisters Wilma Kea, Carolyn Kea, and Cathy Kea.
Ricky leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 11 years, Lawanda Nedd-Kea of Temple Hills, MD; daughters Chauntica Reid of Prince Frederick, MD, and Nancy Kea of Baltimore, MD; son Dana Nedd of Washington, DC; brothers Top Keaton (Ida) of Wilmington, NC, Bobby Kea (Shirley) of San Antonio, TX, Henry “Ronnie” Kea (Audrey) of Teachey, NC, Jerry Kea (Karyn) of Flint, MI, and Willis Nedd (Lindora) of Lothian, MD; grandson Caden Nedd of Washington, DC; mother-in-law Jessie M. Nedd of Washington, DC; godson Rasheed Wade of Lumberton, NC; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
