Mary Elizabeth Stack Newton was born on May 12, 1950 in North, South Carolina. Mary was one of twelve children of the late Sulton Stack, Sr. and Elizabeth Salley Stack.
She started her walk with God at an early ae at Ebenezer Baptist Church of North, South Carolina. She graduated from Dover High School, class of 1968. After graduation, she moved to New York to live with her sister.
Mary met David Newton in 1968 and they married on December 18, 1971. They had two daughters, Katrina Newton and Erica Newton. Mary graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor’s Degree in the Arts. She worked for Met Life Insurance Company for 31 years. Mary and David Newton lived and worked in Queens Village, New York for 27 years. In 206, they relocated to Sumter, South Carolina to be closer to their family.
Mary always believed and trusted her faith to keep God first and found her church home at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church. Mary has been a faithful member for 18 years and has served on various ministries.
Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening, and making desserts for her friends and family. Mary sends this message, “To all of my cake friends, I will see you soon.”
Mary leave her legacy to be cherished by her husband, David Newton of the home; her daughters, Katrina Newton and Erica Newton of Queens Village, New York; four brothers: Phamalda Stack, Regal (Shirley) Stack, Sulton Stack, Jr., Levonia (Earline) Stack, and Joe Stack; two sisters: Myrtle Parris an Magnolia Martin; brothers and sisters-in-law: Virginia (Benny) Simmons, Annie Ruth Hickey, John L., (Beulah) Newton, Jr., Samuel (Assettou) Newton, Calvin (Thelma) Newton, and Barbara Newton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Patricia Stack Newton, George Stack, Cornelia Stack Smith, and Freddie Stack; gone but never forgotten.
